Main Ingredients

  • 1 baguette sliced into ½-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • cups fresh strawberries diced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional Cream Layer

  • ½ cup cream cheese or mascarpone
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Optional Toppings

  • powdered sugar
  • chopped nuts
  • white chocolate drizzle
  • fresh mint leaves

Instructions

1. Prepare the Strawberries

  • In a bowl combine the diced strawberries, sugar (or honey), and vanilla extract.
  • Stir gently and let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes so the strawberries release their juices.

2. Toast the Bread

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and lightly brush with butter or olive oil.
  • Bake for 7–8 minutes until the bread is golden and crisp.

3. Prepare the Cream Layer (Optional)

  • In a small bowl mix together cream cheese or mascarpone with honey until smooth and spreadable.

4. Melt the Chocolate

  • Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until melted and smooth.

5. Assemble the Bruschetta

  • Spread a small layer of the cream mixture onto each toasted bread slice.
  • Top with a spoonful of the strawberry mixture.

6. Add Chocolate

  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the strawberries.

7. Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar, chopped nuts, or mint leaves if desired.
  • Serve immediately while the bread is still crisp.

  • Add a light drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze for a gourmet flavor twist.
  • Sprinkle chopped mint or basil for a fresh, aromatic touch.
