Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts or thighs: Both work. Thighs stay juicier.
  • Butter: Adds richness and flavor.
  • Cream cheese: Makes the sauce thick and creamy.
  • Cream of chicken soup: The base of the sauce.
  • Dry Italian dressing mix: Adds herby flavor.
  • Chicken broth or white wine: Helps thin the sauce a little.
  • Angel hair pasta: The traditional base for serving.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the chicken

  • Place the chicken breasts or thighs at the bottom of your crockpot.
  • Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper.

Step 2: Make the sauce

  • In a small pot over low heat, melt butter and cream cheese.
  • Stir in the cream of chicken soup, dry Italian dressing mix, and chicken broth.
  • Whisk until smooth.

Step 3: Add sauce to the crockpot

  • Pour the sauce evenly over the chicken.
  • Use a spoon to spread it if needed so every piece is covered.

Step 4: Cook

  • Cover the crockpot.
  • Cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  • When done, the chicken should be tender and easy to shred.

Step 5: Serve

  • Boil angel hair pasta right before serving.
  • Spoon the chicken and creamy sauce over the pasta.

  • Serve over cooked angel hair pasta for the classic “angel chicken” pairing.

  • For extra flavor, add garlic or a splash of white wine to the sauce.
  • Leftovers thicken as they cool—add a bit of milk or broth when reheating.
  • Store in an airtight container up to 4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
